Is there other ways to fund public schools other than property taxes?

Posted on September 28th, 2009 by admin in public schools | 2 Comments »

The government doesnt provide enough school funds for the state of ohio’s public school systems. And i am writing a argumentive paper proving this. What are other ways we can fund our schools?

Property taxes are based on the value of the property, you could use a Parcel tax which is a set amount per house like $200 per year per house, it could also be based on the number of people in the house or the number of bedrooms in the house.

Some, republicans, believe that you could run schools by donations from local businesses. Or by doing something similar to a charter school where parents are given an amount of money from the federal government to spend on whatever school they want, public or private. Where the parents would use that money to send their kids to public school.

I’m a proponent of 100% inheritance tax, used mostly to fund education. Where people would not be able to inherit money, it would go to the government. This would level the playing field where every man would be what he made of himself. People would get into college based mostly on their test scores and people that weren’t lucky enough to be born into wealthy families would be able to move up if they put in the effort and had the abilities.

How do I make my transition from homeschooling to public school smooth?

Posted on September 28th, 2009 by admin in public school | 2 Comments »

At some point I went to public school. I have been homeschooling for five years. Now I am going back to public school. By the way do you have any tips for public school?

You are lucky that you’ve been to school in the past; that means you know what it’s like to go to the first day of class. Just do it the same way as any time you’re going to school for the first day: Look for someone you already know, and speak to them. If you don’t recognize anyone, talk to someone near your desk who isn’t already talking to someone. Try to have someone in advanced to eat lunch with if you’re to the point that there is no assigned lunch seats. If not, you’ll have to look for a table with room, and ask, "Can I sit here?" This is a perfect chance to make some new friends, at least to start with, until you can get to know a few people.
Good luck!

Do you know a secondary school in uk where boys have to wear short pants all year round ?

Posted on September 28th, 2009 by admin in secondary school | 3 Comments »

For my son! He is attending a prep school where boys have to wear shorts all year long and he’d like to do it in his future secondary school too.

In the UK you can wear any kind of pants you like – boxers, y-fronts etc

I don’t know of any schools where boys have to wear short trousers all year round. I had to when I was in primary school but that was 30 years ago!

I have to play a little demonstration on the piano for young primary school kids at the end of november. What are some songs that all ages in primary school would recognise and like? Even a current top chart?

boarding school?

Posted on September 28th, 2009 by admin in boarding school | 1 Comment »

i was wondering if someone with boarding school experience could describe to me a bit about the real atmosphere of a boarding school. freedoms, restrictions, attitudes of students…
i’ve already gone to a private school so i understand more challenging academics. i just really need a big change in my life.

It depends what boarding school you go to. The Jesuit and military based ones will be pretty strict. I went to a benedictine catholic boarding school and thought it was great. You get to live with your friends and have the same freedoms you ordinarily would have on weekends. Some people would from time to time get pretty homesick but most people I lived with preferred it to being at home. Except of course the bad kids that hated school in general. They tend not to get invited back since more enrollments require yearly invitations. The only problems that can ever arrise are with some of the older kids picking on the freshman since they live together.

Did you think elementary school handball was fun and good exercise? Would you consider joining a league?

Posted on September 28th, 2009 by admin in elementary school | 7 Comments »

I used to love playing the elementary school-version of handball. I want to bring it back! Elementary school handball should be played more among the older kids and adults. That’s why I want to start a group/club or even a league. Give me your input! Thanks!

Handball is fun I guess if I knew what it is.

Is high school requirement to obtain Commercial Pilot Certificate?

Posted on September 28th, 2009 by admin in high school | 6 Comments »

I haven’t finnished high school yet and i might not in next couple of years. But i’m really interested in becoming a pilot and want to know if high school is requirement to sign in pilot school and obtain licence? Is it like driving licence where nobody cares for your education or some level of education is required?

Thank you
Yea, one more think:

I would like to know about those requirements for PPL (Private Pilot Licence) and for ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot Licence)

There is a common misconception that a "Commercial Pilot" is the same as an Airline Pilot. This is not necessarily the case. A Commercial Pilot Certificate simply allows you to operate an aircraft for hire. Much like a Commercial Driver’s License. In order to act as Pilot In Command of an airliner, you need what’s called an Airline Transport Pilot certificate.

So, if someone is a commercial pilot, that doesn’t automatically make them an airline pilot.

Is a high school diploma required to obtain your Commercial Pilot Certificate? No. The requirements are as follow (directly from FAR 61.121)
Be at least 18 years of age.
Be able to read, speak, write, and understand English
Pass the required Commercial Pilot knowledge test.
Receive and log the required ground and flight training from an authorized instructor.
Hold at least a Private Pilot Certificate.

How could schools lower the amount of bullying that occurs on a day-to-day basis?

Regarding the school in NSW where a young man died from head injuries after a school-yard brawl, what do people think schools could do to prevent this type of behaviors reoccurring?

I support the march out the teens at the school are planning but I don’t think it will stop bullying.

Vigilance by teachers and school principals and immediate suspension and other penalties for bullies.
Tullawong State High School principal Leonie Kearney, is credited with turning her Caboolture school around through a tough stance on bullying and bad behaviour,

How do i transfer from a private school to a public school?

Posted on September 28th, 2009 by admin in private school | 1 Comment »

I go to a private school that if I don’t transfer I will be expelled. What I need to know are the specifics, and can I transfer into a magnet high school or do I have to go to a regular public high school?

You need to call the school district office where you live and find out. Every State and every district have their own set of transfer rules. No one can answer this for you, but your own school district office.
