What are you thoughts on sending children to boarding school as young as age 8?

I am writing a letter advising parents on how to prepare their child for the move to boarding school at a young age as part of my English AS coursework, and would really appreciate some feedback! :) thanks!

cruel. most cruel, as children are too young at this age. they need their parents’ love and guidance. If the children absolutely have to move, they will break down in most cases. 8 is a much too young age to consider boarding school. Let them grow up, learn to take care of themselves without their parents’ constant nagging, and then they’ll be ready for boarding school.

For your letter help, you could refer to the Bollywood movie, ‘Taare Zameen Par’. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taare_Zameen_Par . This focuses mainly on dyslexia, and also on the life of a boarding school and how it affects the child.

In a nutshell, it`s cruel, damaging, and a silly idea.
Often it is done just to get kids out of the way so the parents can go on making money in their career.

i agree with sending them to boarding school because some, schools in our local area’s can be more fun and games than actually learning somethings ,boarding schools teach children the best way possible in life and also give them Independence, and get them prepared for the next step in life.Boarding school also, gives the parents a better life ,for working and so on …
But i also think if your going to have children, shouldn’t you want them constantly and enjoy picking them up everyday after school rather than speaking to them on the phone once a week.
so i believe the child should decide, whether he/she wants to be away from home ,and the parents defiantly shouldn’t make them go as young as 8 years old that’s pathetic.
    hope i helped x

I know it’s not you sending a child to boarding school, but I have to say I don’t agree with it.
If parents can’t be bothered to look after their own kids they shouldn’t have them

I personally wouldn’t do it, but then I have the choice. I’m not working abroad or allowing them the opportunity to follow their ideal career (music, dance for instance)

I’ve met some lovely, confident and charming 8 and 9 year-olds at boarding school and they loved it. But it wouldn’t suit my kid(s).
