What themes to use for your room at boarding school?
Hey I’m at boarding school and I have a little room in there with a little desk and a little wardrobe. There is a single bed and a little pin board. You are aloud to spice it up a bit but you can’t the walls and stuff. It’s kind of sad walking into a dull bedroom when you don’t get to see your parents everyday. Lol. Any themes? I’m 13 and a girl.
Hi there… wow, you own room… in the lower grades we have 12 in a dorm… its horrid …but what you describe is almost the same the world over… oh I’m Chantal and I’m 16 and at an all girls school in Cape Town South Africa…
Next year we have rooms with 4s and 2s… I can’t wait… but hey I know how you feel. But we are allowed some posters (and long as the person is fully dressed and with do swearing or .. LOL) and a frame with photos on our desks and things… not much scope with us though until next year… oh and I know how it feels about missing your family…
So for some ideas are you allowed:
1) posters that you can put up with press-stick and easily take down without pulling the paint off? (are u allowed these). Best to go for the mountain or lake views and not your fav ROCK group in their jeans only smashing their equipment, or Britney Spears with almost nothing on…
2) a nice vase, and you can pick flowers or leaves on the weekends
3) do you have a desk light?… can you perhaps also get another nice desk standing light with a nice shade (or change your shade) so it makes a nice softer light when you not studying – so you can CHANGE the mood!!!
4) photo frame with pic of family
5) music – are you allowed and then can you get a small cheaper CD player – get some relaxed type of music?
So the theme I would go for is – ‘Inspirational’ – like nature, tranquil and calm – with lighting that can be lower when not working, a few posters of nature, some natural flowers / leaves in a vase. You will need to collect these over time… what do you think?
6) finally, do you / can you use a computer in your room? or even if not and you can obvious get to work on a compute as you now on Answers – BUT I found helped tons was to setup my own FLICKR site and stared with just a few photos from holidays or family… this gave be a whole other public and private (as you can limit who can see what) world I could share… I now have photos of mountains, the sea, my school, my room at home and I get many visitors to comment and share nice things. See my flickr oh please don’t tell me how we look like chocolate bars in our brown and beige uniforms … and no it’s NOT a MILITARY school lol. See – http//www.flickr.com/photos/chantalslife !!! as it is something I’m very proud of!!!
oh you can also contact me to say hi… I’m on- chantal2009@gmail.com (don’t use yahoo mail… it is blocked by the school – sob!), bye for now, hope this helped. Chantal
