Katrina forced nearly a million people to leave their homes and caused almost $100 billion in damages. To an already failing public school system, the storm seemed to provide the final deathblow. But then something amazing happened. In the wake of Katrina, education reformers decided to seize the opportunity and start fresh with a system based on choice.

Today, New Orleans has the most market-based school system in the US. Sixty percent of New Orleans students currently attend charter schools, test scores are up, and talented and passionate educators from around the country are flocking to New Orleans to be a part of the education revolution. It’s too early to tell if the New Orleans experiment in school choice will succeed over the long term, but for the first time in decades people are optimistic about the future of New Orleans schools.

Approximately 10 minutes. Produced by Paul Feine; hosted by Nick Gillespie; shot by Alex Manning and Dan Hayes; edited by Alex Manning.

Another request from our friend Perez Hilton and so so beautiful on the kids. This has always been one of my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs, and the kids do it incredible justice. Tori Amos also has covered this many times as well as the Dixie Chicks and countless others. Of course no one sings this like Stevie Nicks, but we hope she would be proud. Cheers to the chorus for putting this rendition out into the universe, and of course, to Perez himself, who asked for a Fleetwood Mac song. Great choice!! A landslide was never such a beautiful thing. The part that tugs my heartstrings the most? “Even children get older…. I’m getting older too.”

The PS22 Chorus is a kids choir of 60 kids from a new york city public elementary school. They are slowly but surely taking over the world….. and we who are fortunate enough to work with them, feel quite blessed. And of course, thanks to Perez for all of your unbelievable support for the past 2 years! Keep those requests a’comin!

When a school administrator can abrogate his responsibilities and not let the school team participate in Arizona for his personal reasons, we are in BIG trouble.

There are many great, dedicated people who work in the public schools, but the system has not way to get rid of the people who have forgotten that the only reason the schools exist is to benefit the students!!

Preventing the team from playing in Arizona is not benefiting the players.

Unfortunately, liberal doctrine is being force fed on students at a very young age in public schools throughout the country. Educators and administrations should educate, not indoctrinate. If they can’t keep their political opinions to themselves then they should find another line of work.

Oh really.

What about blackmail, extortion, bribery and infiltration?

A slap in the face, and an icy stare?

What about a bucket of ice water dumped over your head, hard labor, barbed wire, and interrogations with a bogus lie detector?

By these methods and others, Corporate Scientology ensures the oppressive control of its followers.

Now, Corporate Scientology wants to bring its own methods of learning into public schools.

Through the activities of deceptive front-groups such as Applied Scholastics, Scientology seeks to weasel its way into unsuspecting families by appealing to their youngest and most vulnerable members.

It is not surprising that significant public outcry has occurred in response to these attempts, as more and more members of the public become aware that APPLIED SCHOLASTICS=SCIENTOLOGY.

A multi-billion dollar enterprise that claims religious exemption from taxation has NO PLACE in public schools.

A multi-billion dollar enterprise that ensures its prosperity by the widespread abuse of child labor has NO PLACE in public advocacy for education.

A founder who made false claims of educational degrees he did not earn, has NO PLACE as the author of teaching methods in legitimate places of learning.

And the abusive paramilitary leader who inherited his throne, David Miscavige, has NO PLACE as the beneficiary of monetary rewards derived from infiltrating public schools.

Anonymous knows a better way to shape the future: education.

The activities of our multiple, varied constituents may be seen as an open university, where knowledge is free.

Videos, protests, personal accounts, interviews, and leaked documents form a vast and ever-changing electronic horizon. Our collective efforts are changing history — and of course, making public demonstrations “sexy for the first time since 1968.” (-The London Times)

The PS22 Chorus of 2009 has some fun with Coldplay’s Grammy nominated song Viva La Vida, the amazing new hit single from the album of the same name. Hope it sweeps the Grammies! I love watching them sing this one, and it has kind of a different sound and feel on the guitar than the previously posted piano and acapella versions, so I thought it merited YouTubeage….

April sings the solo and sounds better than ever on this one.

The PS22 Chorus consists of about 60 fifth graders and have sung with Tori Amos, Crowded House, among many others. Visit our above website to find out more about these amazing New York City public school kids.

Coldplay’s new album comes highly recommended, featuring the songs:

01 Life in Technicolor
02 Cemeteries of London
03 Lost!
04 42
05 Lovers in Japan/Reign of Love
06 Yes
07 Viva la Vida
08 Violet Hill
09 Strawberry Swing
10 Death and All His Friends

Duration : 0:3:9
