I’m thinking about going to boarding school for my sophomore year and I’m wondering if I would like it. I wanna go to boarding school because I think it be a great educational experience for me and I also think it would be good for me to be independent. The only thing I’m worried about is missing my family and home. Also any pros and cons you have about boarding school.
Btw I’m applying to Exeter, Andover, Choate, and Hotchkiss.
If you’re someone who get along with the majority of people, then you will LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE boarding school. However, if you’re someone, who doesn’t – and can’t stand certain types of people, then boarding school might be a little bit tricky for you. Wait no no, what am I saying, boarding school is a great experience, one of the main things I will always remember is how close everyone becomes with one another. You learn about there family about them, and some have a VERY interesting past.
Boarding school is great, kinda teaches you discipline, well mine did anyway, set routine, do this, do that, the one I went to was quite strict (we had to wear dresses for dinner) but that didn’t stop us from having fun.
One thing I actually hated about boarding school was waking up early in the morning for breakfast that was COMPULSORY to go too. -.- yea i know right. You miss your family at times, but you make friends who become so much like your family. I got homesick so badly on my first week, but I got through it, thankfully, the people in my dorm were very nice girls!
I think what is great about boarding school (for me anyway) was I got to discover myself, and my interest. You’re pretty much doing everything on your own, making decisions by yourself – without your family, so in that aspect, you do become independent, but it’s great knowing that you can rely on yourself and not other people.
Boarding school = great experience, but I couldn’t imagine going there for more than a year, just because mine was so strict. Though I made some life-long friends out of there
