Which is the safest area with good primary school to live in Brighton&Hove?

I live in London. I am about to move Brighton or Hove at the end of this month. I am going to start university (postgraduate). I have a kid who is going to start primary school. I am a single mother. Therefore, I am looking safe place with good schools to move with my kid. I am driving so doesn’t matter how far my place will be from university. The priority is safeness and good school for my kid.

Thanks a lot!

Hove is probably the most suitable place and there are a few good schools there in the area, however both Brighton and Hove have their sort of downmarket, ‘council’ places that should probably be avoided and in your case places like Whitehawk. Kemp Town, in Brighton is quite upmarket and a good place however I think it’s more for single people (not saying that there aren’t any families). Have a look at the Ofsted reports on the Brighton council website and this will help you choose which school is goood however if you have not applied to any schools and your child is starting this September, the likelihood of you getting a good school is not very good.

How does boarding school works when a student is really sick?

If you’re in a boarding school and you’re really sick to the point you have to go to the hospital, how does that work? Do they make personal trips? If so, who takes them? Just doing my research on the life of a boarding school student.

There’s an onsite nurse/infirmary. If you’re sick or injured enough to require hospitalization the school arranges transport or an ambulance. One of the onsite teachers may take you or my school had an arrangement with a local taxi/driver service.

What high school classes would you take to become a deaf educator?

Well this year we are going to have to be doing a career class and I want to become a Deaf Educator. I don’t know if we have an ASL class but to be an elementary school teacher would you just take the basic classes in high school?

In High School you would want to take ASL classes if any are offered. Unfortunately there isn’t much that a high school can teach you that will help you in this area. When you look for universities though you will want to look for a university will strong programs in Elementary Education, Special Education, Deaf studies, and Sign Language, because you will taking classes in all of these departments.

While you are in high school though I would suggest getting to know your Deaf community, if you don’t know anyone that is Deaf, try Meetup.com. This website can connect you to Deaf social clubs in your area. This is where you should start because its a good idea to understand the community and the people you will be serving before you start a college career towards it.

What is the best boarding school in California?

I suggest The Athenian School. It is a traditional coeducational boardng school for students. Like many traditional boarding schools in CA, it has a strong sports program, with around 68% of their faculty members olding advanced degrees.

What is the concept behind splitting schools up from elementary to middle to high school?

I was wondering what the reason was for this, when I was growing up we had an elementary school and when u got down with that you went to high school. Then it went from that to elementary, middle, high. Now it’s elementary, intermediate, middle, high. Just didn’t know if they thought it would better the children’s education in some way?

I imagine so it keeps a better environment for the kids. You develop better socially when you’re consistently interacting with kids close to your own age, and if you’re walking around in a school as a 4th grader when you’re simultaneously tripping over kindergartners and walking between the legs of the 8th graders, you don’t feel quite as motivated socially.

How long can your high school transcript be valid until you apply to college?

I graduated from High school in June 2009. I am currently in a community college trying to obtain my associates degree. I am graduating next year but I’m not applying to a university until 2013. How long will my high school transcript be valid if I obtain it from my high school this year?

Your HS transcripts are valid until the day you die.

What you should be concerned with are the classes you are taking at the community college. For some universities they put a ’shelf life’ on classes taken, regardless of whether it’s a college or a university. Most universities require you to take specific classes for your degree whether they are ‘general ed’ or ‘major’ courses. My experience is that they want these classes taken within 10 years of your degree or they want you to retake them. And so if you take a college class and then take a couple of years off before returning to school you are fine, now should you take 10-15 years off you might have to retake one or two classes.

How do I know if boarding school is right for me?

I’m thinking about going to boarding school for my sophomore year and I’m wondering if I would like it. I wanna go to boarding school because I think it be a great educational experience for me and I also think it would be good for me to be independent. The only thing I’m worried about is missing my family and home. Also any pros and cons you have about boarding school.

Btw I’m applying to Exeter, Andover, Choate, and Hotchkiss.

If you’re someone who get along with the majority of people, then you will LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE boarding school. However, if you’re someone, who doesn’t – and can’t stand certain types of people, then boarding school might be a little bit tricky for you. Wait no no, what am I saying, boarding school is a great experience, one of the main things I will always remember is how close everyone becomes with one another. You learn about there family about them, and some have a VERY interesting past.
Boarding school is great, kinda teaches you discipline, well mine did anyway, set routine, do this, do that, the one I went to was quite strict (we had to wear dresses for dinner) but that didn’t stop us from having fun.

One thing I actually hated about boarding school was waking up early in the morning for breakfast that was COMPULSORY to go too. -.- yea i know right. You miss your family at times, but you make friends who become so much like your family. I got homesick so badly on my first week, but I got through it, thankfully, the people in my dorm were very nice girls!

I think what is great about boarding school (for me anyway) was I got to discover myself, and my interest. You’re pretty much doing everything on your own, making decisions by yourself – without your family, so in that aspect, you do become independent, but it’s great knowing that you can rely on yourself and not other people.

Boarding school = great experience, but I couldn’t imagine going there for more than a year, just because mine was so strict. Though I made some life-long friends out of there :)
