Will living next to a Primary School reduce the value of my house?
I have heard that the council will be building a primary school on the land next to my
house. I suppose there will be some noise from the children and more difficulty
with parking. Do you think this will lower the value of my house ?
Usually house prices go up when they are near a school.
It will be a selling point to young couples and families and should increase its value.

No. A good agent will use it as a selling point for young couples. When you come to sell it put it on the market just before the school hols.

No, it actually may increase it if the school is any good. Houses in desirable school districts are more valuable.

It will definitely increase the value of your house. Normally a family with a young family prefer house near a school. It depends on buyer’s needs. Definitely PLUS for me.

for people with kids, it will raise it.
for everyone else, it will lower it; I walk past a primary school quite often at pickup time; huge trucks with one child in each, terrible driving, worse parking etc. And of course there is a lot of noise at break times.
so all you have to do is sell to the right person. If it is a good school the value of your property will go up to parents because you are in the catchment area.

Quite the opposite.. living near a brand new primary school will add about 10 grand onto the value. We live very near one and it’s been brilliant as many young couples want to live around here…also, the children are lovely and we’ve volunteered down at the school..we also rent out our parking space to a teacher…and the area is well policed and kept smart as it’s on the way to a primary school.
