If that earns me the right to get back to my wife, then that’s my mission” Favorite line from the film. notice how everyone went silent when he gave the speech, how it brought peace amongst. Too beautiful for words. And topped by this magnificent soundtrack, you get one of the most precious moments in film making.

    I lose it when the poor kid gets stabbed by the German…it was such a disturbing scene, one that I will never forget.

    Im fairly certain that the german who was captured at the radar station was the same german who killed mellish. Why else would Upham kill the one german in line at the end of the movie after the german tried to sweet talk him?

  21. Nop. Steamboat …
    Nop. Steamboat Willie(the captured german) has a Heer(german army) uniform the entire film. The nazi that killed Mellish wears Waffen SS uniform and insignia. They are often confused because all German extras and actors sport the same haircut. That said, Steamboat Willie did shoot the Cap at the end of the film.
