War isn’t for kids, … War isn’t for kids, we shouldn’t bring it to them like it’s a kindergarten play.
If we want to teach the next generation about the Civil War, don’t make it an entertaining spectacle. That’s what the people at First Manassas thought too.
Would we set up bleachers for World War I at the trenches if we had the option, and fill the bleachers with kids so they could be entranced with the bangs and flashes and pretty colors? no, not if we had any sense. So why do it with the Civil War?
In a way your right … In a way your right. I wonder what the people who were there would think. However, it does keep history alive and the record of what it was really like to fight in the war and put all the journals, letters, newspaper accounts, etc. together. It also interests kids and teenagers who at first just wanted to see canons go off and than see all this other stuff and they may want to know more.
It is called Manassas in the South.
Maybe this is just … Maybe this is just me, but whenever I hear about people going to watch Civil War re-enactments, I cringe and remember the First Battle of Bull Run (First Manassas I think it’s called in the South), where a shitton of people went to go watch and then ended up fleeing in horror from the battle, like they didn’t expect it to get violent.
Why do so many people enjoy the art of recreating battles that cost thousands of American lives? What is the matter with us? Hell, the first time was bad enough.
Check out some … Check out some stats and find that the public grade and college school systems south of the mason-dixon line as a whole have higher numbers than north.
We know we lost. A … We know we lost. A lot of people do it out of love for history and recognize the need to preserve it and get the younger generation interested in it.
And Americans, the … And Americans, the majority in the south, don’t want government health care. Sarah Palin said Canada should get rid of socialized medicine. Maybe she went to school in Arkansas or Alabama. Oh yeah i have a message for y’all, we dumb Canadians with free hospitals and doctors have higher education scores than Americans. Hmmmm…..
Why would a … Why would a highschool need a jumbotron? MOST COLLEGES DONT HAVE JUMBOTRONS! God, Im on the football team and I still think thats unnecessary.
i loled………… … i loled………….. im in georgia and that is kinda funny cause my schools were always good but we do have a paper shortage………. they used to make us bring in copy paper………….
I currently go to a … I currently go to a public high school in Georgia… the paper bit was a bit surreal for me considering my school is in a paper shortage… The reason we are in a paper shortage is because the principal suggested to the superintendent that we buy a jumbo tron for the football team and have the military fly jets over our first game. We also have very few text books, but that’s a whole different story.
@VanPlayzGuitar …
@VanPlayzGuitar Because most schools are jock-obsessed sportocracies where athletic abilities are prized first, second and third.

Maybe if there was better education in the South, they would stop re-enacting the Civil War and figure out that THEY LOST!

You probably also have a lower percentage of obesity, lower infant mortality rate, and higher life expectancy!
