Why are public schools barely debated, but the right flips when we discuss public healthcare?

I keep hearing how they don’t like having to pay for the "lazy", but they haven’t made any moves to abolish the socialist-marxist public education system. Shouldn’t we stop stifling the more efficient profit motive schools? Also, schools are paid for with TAXES, how horrible is that!

I’m actually a very firm supporter of the voucher systems. We would pay fewer TAXES into the system, give people more CHOICES and ultimately end up with better RESULTS.

Sort of like healthcare.
Peace

Because there is no defense for not giving more money to the schools, so they don’t want to talk about it because it looks like they are what they are when you do – against the poor bettering themselves. Elitist attitudes at their finest.

    That is a stupid question.

We need school. Without it then we become lazy fools living off of welfare and whining because we dont have healthcare. And the public school system isnt all that great. That is a perfect example of why we shouldnt let the government dictate certain things. We have parents sending kids to school just so they can be babysitted. It has nothing to do with learning.

    Try again.

one way to fix public education: don’t send funds to schools with a C average or lower. Trust me, private schools give us better results with less money most of the time… Cut the funding and FORCE them to do good.

I’d support abolishing the public school system and the department of education.

None of the teachers would just disappear. They’d find their place in the private sector.

Everyoen who actually tried to help epopel through public schools wouldn’t just disappear they’d find their place…

$10,000+ per student that we all have to pay for, for horrible education if I may add, would be eliminated.

Private school would be competitive and prices would be far more affordable for people to get children better education then guberment education.

allowing a free market in the school system would also good for companies that want to help educate people so that they get better workers etc….

just need to free up the market from under government control

there is so much more incentive for private schools to be good than there is for guberment schools

That’s right! I already asked the similar question. Conservative majority agreed that America is overeducated. Sunday Bible school should be enough for those who can’t afford private school.

This is what we get out of the public school system now!! We’ll be paying for this IF this health bill is passed! You really want your taxes being spent here???

We’d flip if the federal government tried to take over schools, too. The schools analogy won’t hold, nor will the auto-insurance analogy (since I can post a bond instead of buy insurance). I’ll bet you can’t find one that does. (Hint: The post office didn’t have competition for over a hundred years, and it’s losing money on its inferior package service.)

I send my daughter to private school, and never regreted one dollar of it!

I do regret being coerced to also pay for failing public schools wallowing in mediocrity all in the name of the public good. I see very little good coming out of those dollars.

Because your trying to mix a state and local issue, with a federal issue.

The federal government doesn’t fund public schools.

So why should it fund health care ?

So using your own argument, shouldn’t health care be a state and local matter, just like public schools are ?

After all, plenty of states provide health care for their citizens already.
