How could schools lower the amount of bullying that occurs on a day-to-day basis?

Regarding the school in NSW where a young man died from head injuries after a school-yard brawl, what do people think schools could do to prevent this type of behaviors reoccurring?

I support the march out the teens at the school are planning but I don’t think it will stop bullying.

Vigilance by teachers and school principals and immediate suspension and other penalties for bullies.

  1. I’m sorry to say that it’s nigh-impossible. Bullying is influenced by things both within and without school, both of which are unfortunately difficult to control. The only way a ‘bully’ can release his stress and feel better is to be, well, a bully. That’s their most effective outlet in their minds, and it’s hard to change that kind of mindset; ones that revolve around being determined to rid themselves of stress, that is.
