What if all public schools became privatized and the voters got to choose which corporation runs the schools?
Maybe Apple can choose to run some schools and McDonald’s can run another school. Parents could choose which school they wish to send their kids to near their area.
They’d accept all the “smart” kids and kids without learning disabilities or emotional disturbances, etc.
And they’d expect government handouts if we wanted them to teach ALL the kids.
I’ve worked in both public and private schools. Private was a cush job and they’re generally not equipped to provide for kids with special needs. This is why some kids on the private school vouchers end up going back to their public school.
There’s a reason we have the Dept. of Ed. All children need a shot, and the private sector isn’t much interested in serving ALL kids.

The ironic thing is that if schools DO become privatized, then there will be no vote which corporation ran a school. Corporations would simply buy the school and run it for profit, with no vote from parents, students, or the community on the curriculum or educational standards. You could not decide which corporations would buy which school, you would be forced to accept the corporation that purchased the schools in your area. And you would not have a vote in how that school is run, because the corporation will retain exclusive rights to run that school to maximize profits, driving up prices and making it impossible for students without a lot of money to get a "corporate" education.
